Ambition, Desire, Passion – Cheryl Martinez *Pt1*

MySpace, the very word conjures up images of spam and wannabes, whether that be the 3 million odd so called rap artists or those frustrating fake profiles infesting your inbox every so often. However, more than any other website, MySpace can be credited with the nurturing of new talent and the success of many of this generations stars.

Our new eBuddy starlet Cheryl Martinez is no different, the talented professional dancer and modelling mogul has successfully exploited MySpace to further her passion for dance, acting and singing. Cheryl hails from Long Island, New York; she has the exposure of a superstar and the work ethic of a craftsman, ever pushing her passion and ambition beyond the demands of an idealistic dream. How many of those so called MySpace entrepreneurs actually and I mean actually deliver what they preach? Well this charming 20-something does and does it exceedingly well.

“Of course, networking and exposure especially on the internet, is a vital part of success in the entertainment industry. I love being a role model to my fans and inspiring them, I appreciate all of the luv and support.”

I honestly believe Cheryl is just one of those true individuals that can combine there passion, talent and drive; with what lets be honest has become a spammers paradise, to succeed in a professional and friendly way should be applauded rather than hyped by social networking cynics.

Cheryl can claim a staggeringly diverse heritage, which includes Puerto Rican, Cuban, Italian, and Irish roots. I have no doubt many of you will be questioning the reality of Cheryl’s heritage and the many stereotypes associated with ethnicity and heritage; often you would be on the ball with this assertion. But take a moment to truly explore Cheryl’s portfolio, go beyond the notion of personality and commercial creativity, achieving this will be one step on the journey of understanding the success of diverse heritage in today’s entertainment industry.

From an early age Cheryl didn’t let her heritage go to waste, at the tender age of three, Cheryl took a leap into the world of trained performance by taking her very first dance lesson and from this, she never looked back. It’s easy to dismiss this early enthusiasm as a phase, and for many this would be true; but the more you get to know this pint sized dreamer the more you recognises the true meaning of the aptly named American dream. With age, Cheryl’s performing began to prosper, leading to acting and vocal lessons as an integral aspect of her already intense life.

Cheryl’s hard work paid off when her transition to acting credited her with roles in many-a-hit Hollywood motion picture as well as primetime television roles. Two notable examples are Spiderman 3 and El Cantante, despite mixed reviews, these motion pictures where polar opposites in terms of creative and acting demands; prime examples of Cheryl’s talent and dedication to what she loves.

Many would fall into the most common trap recurring in the entertainment industry, thus being stereotyped into one profession. Not Cheryl, some how managing to pack her first love into an already hectic schedule, American music heavy hitters such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Missy Elliot have regularly called upon Martinez to showcase her talent as a featured dancer, model and/or actress in there music videos. Most recently Cheryl played a lead role in the music video for Beyoncé Knowles critically acclaimed, “If I Were a Boy”.

The dream wouldn’t be complete without the obligatorily delve into self-management and entrepreneurship; unlike others we could mention, Cheryl has made this transition successfully and is now the proud founder of two incorporated companies. Tools For Talent™, Inc and Big Apple Dancers (B.A.D); these successful endeavours can be traced back to her biggest inspirations, her highly successful parents who started their Utopia Home Care venture in the 1980s.

So what can we learn from Cheryl’s networking and life experience to date? Cheryl herself explains this lesson with the passion and ambition we expect from this pint sized tycoon.

“When you are passionate and love what you do, nothing else matters. The hard work pays off and the outcome makes it all worth it. I have always been a very intense goal-oriented person, so being over-stressed is a natural feeling for me, lol. Although I am only human and it does take a toll on me, so I try to take a break whenever I have the time, which is not often.”
