Cheryl, you have a well-established social web presence, has social networking affected your career significantly? If so has it been a positive influence?
Of course, networking and exposure especially on the Internet, is a vital part of success in the entertainment industry. I love being a role model to my fans and inspiring them. I appreciate all of the luv and support. For FREE Ringtones, Wallpapers, & more visit my Fan Area on www.cherylmartinez.com!
You appear to have achieved a rather staggering amount of credits to your name, not only this but you display a large range of skill sets. How do you cope with such a workload? Surely you must be close to burn out?
When you are passionate and love what you do, nothing else matters. The hard work pays off and the outcome makes it all worth it. I have always been a very intense goal-oriented person, so being over-stressed is a natural feeling for me, lol. Although I am only human and it does take a toll on me, so I try to take a break whenever I have the time, which is not often.
Congratulations on your prospering music career, you’re a rare MySpace artist that ACTUALLY deserves to be signed. How did you first get yourself into the world of professional music? Have you been approached by any major labels as to furthering your career? Do you have any advice for those wishing to follow in your footsteps? Whether this is working as an artist, performer, producer or technician.
Thank you for your kind words. I am currently unsigned, waiting for the right deal. I am always approached my various producers, artists, etc. trying to collaborate, but I am now seeking a well-known entertainment industry manager to help take my career to the next level. Musically I am known as CheRyl “Miss Sex Appeal,” the Voice of L.E.S.G.O. Ent., an assembly of Producers, Rappers, Lyricists, Singers, Songwriters, and Dancers. We are a definitive movement that embodies intellect and raw talent. This team is the unsigned hype of New York and we are taking over the music industry! The best advice I could give are a few of my favorite quotes that I try to live by:
“Never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.”
-H. Jackson Brown Jr.
“Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”
-Unknown
“If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”
-Unknown
“Great minds discuss ideas,,, average minds discuss events… small minds discuss people.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
From your résumé I gather you have established and run several businesses, how are you finding the corporate world and what inspired you to become not only your own boss but an employer too?
My family has always been my biggest inspiration. They started their own business back in the 1980′s called Utopia Home Care, which has grown to be incredibly successful! With their support and knowledge of the corporate world, I had prepared myself to start my own businesses: www.bigappledancers.com & www.toolsfortalent.com! I also majored in English in college and have picked the brains of many successful entrepreneurs. Therefore, I am undoubtedly sure that my businesses will be just as successful as my family’s!

As an unashamedly stunning model, you must get to wear some amazing items from the world’s best designers. How would you describe your day-to-day style? What do you like to wear and what are your favourite labels/brands?
I agree that it is very nice receiving free exclusive items now that I have a name in this industry. I try to wear different designers to keep my look versatile depending on whether I’m performing, going to a red carpet event, or just lounging at home. I enjoy wearing Kira Plastinina, Victoria’s Secret, Versace, Betsey Johnson, Dolce & Gabanna, Ed Hardy, & Marc Jacobs, just to name a few.
Although unaware as to whether you have travelled outside of the states much or at all, being from New York you must be aware as to the difference in styles/trends between Europe, Asia and America. The Europeans and Asians are considered by many to be more diverse and individualistic than the states, in your opinion is this correct assertion or are the states more than the stereotypical colour co-ordinated baggy clothing?
I agree that Europe and Asia get the fashion trends earlier than the states, but depending on where you live in the states, like NYC or LA, they also tend to be very fast and trendy, just a little later on. I’ve had the privilege working for Nine West’s Boutique 9 as a shoe model for several years now, so I always get to see and wear the hottest shoes seasons before they come out in the states.
If you could take you’re man shopping without any inkling of complaints or arguments, how would you style your fella? What men’s wear labels and items are you a fan of?
I’d like to get my man that fabulous red prada button down shirt from the sex and the city episode with Carrie & Burger, haha j/k I actually like the way my man dresses and I wouldn’t change him.
You have worked with many artists and/or celebrities in your career, whether that is through dancing, acting or singing. Who or which have been the highlight of your career to work with?
There are many artists/celebrities that I have had the pleasure to work with, but to highlight one job in particular I would have to say my lead role as the female cop in the Beyonce Music Video “If I Were a Boy.” It was a great experience & a pleasure working with Beyonce and Director Jake Nava.
